(ANSA) - ROME, SEPTEMBER 25 - WHO evokes the risk of two million deaths from the pandemic.

"We have lost a million people in nine months and it could take another nine months before we have the vaccine," said emergency director Michael Ryan, answering a question in the coronavirus briefing.

"Are we ready to do what is necessary to avoid that figure? The time to act is now," he cautioned.

"Otherwise we will look at that number, and unfortunately at a much higher one."
