Coronavirus in France: 14,412 new cases and 39 additional deaths in hospital

Since the start of the coronavirus epidemic, more than 21,000 people have died in hospital after being infected with SARS-CoV-2


While new restrictions come into force in Paris, and on the eve of the closure of bars and restaurants in the province of Aix-Marseille, the number of new daily cases remains above the 14,000 mark.

This Saturday, 14,412 contaminations were identified over the past 24 hours, according to the latest data published by Public Health France (SPF).

The test positivity rate continues to increase: it is now 7.2%, against 6.9% the day before.

In hospitals, the situation continues to deteriorate.

In one week, 4,102 patients were hospitalized for a SARS-CoV-2 infection (+ 33 in 24 hours).

Among these patients, 763 were admitted to intensive care (+ 16 compared to the day before), indicates SPF.

In hospitals, 39 patients with Covid-19 died at the same time.

Since the start of the epidemic, at least 31,700 deaths linked to SARS-CoV-2 have been recorded in France, including 21 34 in hospitals and 10 666 in medico-social establishments such as nursing homes.

Every day, the figures published by Public Health France also include the number of clusters identified in the country.

This Saturday, the total number of clusters under investigation in the country stands at 1,183 (+58 since Friday), of which 229 have been identified in nursing homes.
