Are we witnessing a shift in terms of the foci of circulation of the coronavirus?

For weeks, companies had been identified by Public Health France as the first “communities” of circulation of the virus.

Thursday, the last epidemiological bulletin of the national public health agency revealed a new situation.

For the first time, the main focus of the appearance of clusters under investigation (not yet checked or mastered) concerns schools and universities.

Of the 899 clusters which were under investigation on September 24, 285 appeared in French schools or faculties.

That is almost a third of the total of active clusters.

The business world, with 195 clusters, is thus quite clearly behind.

Next, in detail, health establishments (97) and public or private events: temporary gatherings of people (77).

"There is not that much contamination"

However, this new “classification” of active cluster centers deserves confirmation.

Because if we take into account all the identified clusters, including those which are currently controlled or controlled, the company remains the first source of circulation, with 26% of the 2444 centers of transmission against 16% for schools and university.

But it is the increase in the number of households within these establishments that is most striking.

On September 17, 160 foci of transmission were identified in schools and universities, against only 26 a week earlier.

The government, however, insists on the good results obtained in one week.

By September 19, some 2,000 classes and 90 schools had closed their doors.

Asked Friday, September 25 on Franceinfo, the Minister of National Education Jean-Michel Blanquer reported 1152 closed classes and 18 schools.

Among the pupils, 5,612 were tested positive (out of 12.4 million) and 1,153 among the staff (out of a total of 1.16 million).

Good news, rejoiced the minister.

"It is the signal of a good respect of the sanitary rules" and it shows that "on the ground there is not that much contaminations than that", he said then.
