(ANSA) - MELBOURNE, SEPTEMBER 27 - The night curfew in Melbourne, Australia's second largest city, will be lifted from Monday, almost two months after being imposed to counter a spike in coronavirus.
Victoria State Premier Daniel Andrews said Melbourne residents would be free to leave their homes at any time for work, exercise, purchase of essentials or assistance.
The decision comes after the state's active cases dropped below 400 for the first time since June 30. A curfew was imposed on August 2 along with a number of other restrictions.
In recent days, Melbourne has been the scene of demonstrations against restrictions, which resulted in riots and clashes with the police. (HANDLE).
