Apple strudel with a minimum of effort (Photo: Alon Mesika)
For Rosh Hashanah, we recruited pastry chefs Amir Porat and Rosella Yona from the beloved Biscotti confectionery from Bnei Brak and Petah Tikva to produce desserts, at different levels of difficulty, that combine the custom most associated with the New Year slice - dipping an apple in honey.
But we have one more recipe left, which is suitable for breaking the fast - apple strudel that is prepared easily and quickly, with a minimum of effort.

Preparation
How do you make apple strudel?
1
Prepare the apples: In
a small pot put all the ingredients of the caramelized apples, except the apples.
Bring to a boil and cook for about 2 minutes.
2 Add the apple slices and continue to cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes until softened.
Cool and save for assembly.
3
Assembling the dish:
Place a filo leaf on a lightly floured surface.
Using a brush, brush with butter, place another leaf and grease with butter again.
4 Place a third leaf and grease with butter, sprinkle half of the amount of bread crumbs in an even layer.
5 Place the apple filling on the side closest to you (leaving a margin) and fasten it tightly.
6 Roll the dough with the filling as a roll from the side closest to you and out.
7 Brush with egg and sprinkle over the rest of the bread crumbs.
8 Bake for about 20 minutes in an oven preheated to 170 degrees until golden.
