A 200-pound gorilla attacked a Madrid Zoo employee who was feeding him, breaking both of her arms and seriously injuring her head.
The 46-year-old woman who has worked at the zoo for 19 years had entered the cage of Malabo, a large 29-year-old male, protected by a triple door, and found herself face to face with the animal, which attacked her. The Spanish press reports it.
"Zoo staff removed the animal and anesthetized it with a soothing dart. Transported to his dormitory, he calmed down." Malabo - the zoo specified - has been raised in contact with humans since its birth and normally the gorillas maintain a behavior "of closeness and protection" towards the staff in charge of his care.
