, found her lifeless in the apartment they shared in the Shibuya district of Tokyo, east Sunday.
According to the sources of the publication, the actress was transported to a nearby hospital where her death was confirmed.
According to the portal, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department has launched an investigation into Takeuchi's death.
However, local authorities said they believe the actress may have committed suicide.
The outlet also noted that no suicide letter was found.
"It came on suddenly, and we are all shocked and saddened by the news," the talent agency, Stardust Promotion Inc., said in a statement to the local newspaper.
The actress was 40 years old and the mother of two children.
She shared a son with her ex-husband, Nakamura Shido, and welcomed a baby boy earlier this year with Taiki.
Takeuchi made his film debut in the 1996 film "Cyborg." He would go on to star in countless film and television projects that would earn him a host of awards and accolades.
