The new world champion from Imola, Julian Alaphilippe, as expected, will not be at the 103rd cycling Giro d'Italia with Deceuninck-Quick-Step. The Belgian team, next Saturday at the start of Monreale (Palermo), will field eight riders: Joao Almeida (Portugal), Davide Ballerini (Italy), Alvaro Jose Hodeg Chagui (Colombia), Mikkel Honoré (Denmark), Iljo Keisse (Belgium), James Knox (Great Britain), Fausto Masnada (Italy), Pieter Serry (Belgium).
Ballerini won the final stage of the Tour of Poland and finished in second place at the Italian Championships: he returns to the pink race after two years together with Fausto Masnada, who impressed a couple of weeks ago at the Tirreno-Adriatico.
The team ds will be the Italian Davide Bramati, the Belgians Klaas Lodewyck and Geert Van Bondt.
