Gamers will soon be able to fire up their Xbox Series X and try out the next-gen console for themselves.
According to the first test reports, the gaming experience will change significantly.
There are good times for gamers: In November, the Xbox Series X * and Playstation 5 * will be launched.
In terms of performance, significant improvements are expected.
It is clear that both Microsoft and Sony are praising their new consoles to heaven.
But how does next-gen gaming feel when you lend a hand?
Initial reviews of the Xbox Series X prove that Microsoft hasn't promised too much.
Xbox Series X: Loading times are drastically reduced
As reported by several sites - including the tech portal The Verge - there are worlds between the current console generation and the next Xbox.
The testers noticed major differences to current consoles,
especially in terms of loading times
.
In every single game, this would be
much shorter
than in the Xbox One version.
As a specific example, "
Destiny 2
" is named, where planets are loaded in about 30 seconds on the Xbox Series X, while the loading time on the Xbox One X is over a minute. This takes time with the standard version of the Xbox One even almost two minutes.
This is how big the difference in loading times is in other games
:
game | Xbox Series | Xbox One X |
---|---|---|
Assassin's Creed Odyssey | 30 seconds | 67 seconds |
Call of Duty: Warzone | 16 seconds | 21 seconds |
Destiny 2 | 43 seconds | 112 seconds |
Evil Within 2 | 33 seconds | 43 seconds |
No Man's Sky | 87 seconds | 133 seconds |
Red Dead Redemption 2 | 52 seconds | 95 seconds |
Sea of Thieves | 20 seconds | 81 seconds |
The Outer Worlds | 6 seconds | 27 seconds |
Warframe | 25 seconds | 91 seconds |

Xbox Series X: Current games also benefit
Thanks to the backward compatibility of the Xbox Series X, current games benefit from the power of the console.
Not only are the loading times shorter according to the tests, but the
gameplay should also be much smoother
.
Especially those who own a standard Xbox One can
look forward
to a
performance improvement in their current games
.

Xbox Series X “Quick Resume”: Switch between games even faster
Another impressive feature of the Xbox Series X is the so-called "
Quick Resume
".
This feature allows players to switch between multiple titles without having to quit.
Therefore, you can continue at the last paused point without having to go to the start menu again.
However, this does not work with every game - especially with turn-based online games like "Call of Duty: Warzone", where the game world is constantly changing, "Quick Resume" does not make sense.
Nevertheless, the testers are convinced that this is
a real
"game
changer
" that will offer a completely new and more flexible gaming experience.
Game Awards founder Geoff Keighley also agrees:
Spent this weekend hands-on with @Xbox Series X.
Impressions are limited to backwards compatible content and system-level features.
We have not played next-gen games.
Thoughts:
- Quick Resume is a game changer!
