This year there will be no big Christmas show by Helene Fischer on television.
Instead, ZDF broadcasts a compilation of older highlights on Christmas Day.
The program under the title "My most beautiful moments" is presented by Fischer.
"It was originally planned to record the tenth edition of the" Helene Fischer Show "in front of a live audience in the Düsseldorf exhibition center, but the ongoing corona restrictions do not allow this," said a ZDF spokesman on Tuesday evening.
The "Bild" newspaper had previously reported online.
Since 2011, Fischer's show has been broadcast annually on Christmas Day.
"I am infinitely sad that for the first time I cannot be on stage live and that I cannot pursue my passion - to entertain", said Fischer of "Bild".
The 36-year-old singer ("Breathless") added: "That made it all the more exciting to put together a special edition that has never existed in this form before, perhaps with more highlights than in any other edition before."
With a view to the restrictions due to the corona crisis, ZDF had already postponed a "Wetten, dass ..?" Revival show with Thomas Gottschalk to 2021.
ZDF show boss Oliver Heidemann said in May: "" Wetten, dass ..? "Is a show that thrives on the unique atmosphere of a large, fully occupied hall. Unfortunately, this cannot be seriously planned at the moment."
The big farewell for the ZDF show "Welcome to Carmen Nebel" is not scheduled to run until 2021, in the hope of better conditions.
