On the way to ghost flights?

The second largest airline in Israel may appeal to the High Court tomorrow (Wednesday) in order to allow it and the other airlines to continue selling airline tickets.

As you may recall, currently those who can fly according to the law are only those who managed to purchase plane tickets before the start of the closure last Friday.

The decision led to a lot of flights by Israir and other companies that did not sell tickets at all, or that only a few tickets were sold and thus left the country empty but obliged to make the same flights because many Israelis are waiting to return with the same planes to Israel.

Those who are supposed to bear the costs are the airlines and the state has no logical solution to the issue.

Now, as stated, Israir is expected to go to court and demand that it be possible to purchase flight tickets even during the closure.

In its appeal, Israir is expected to state that this is a violation of the Basic Law under section 6 (a), which is that every person is free to leave Israel.

It should also be noted that this is not a law that will necessarily eradicate the spread of the epidemic and thus it is inconsistent with section 4 of special powers to deal with the corona virus according to which the restriction will be determined only if it is a means of preventing corona spread and reducing morbidity.

The petition will also emphasize the issue of the green countries that are considered safer than staying in Israel, a violation of the freedom of occupation of airlines in general and of Israir in particular.
