Customs: arrests after raids in several cities

Customs carried out raids in several cities against around 50 suspects on Wednesday morning.

It was about suspicion of unpaid wages, tax evasion and commercial aid to other crimes, the authority said in the morning.

The focus is on Frankfurt am Main, but Hamburg and Munich are also said to be affected.

There was initially no confirmation for the missions from Hamburg and Munich.

In total there should be around 100 search warrants.

According to a customs officer, six suspects were arrested.

The accused are between the ages of 32 and 48.

Millions in damage

It is assumed that one of the main culprits alone will suffer damages of around 3.5 million euros.

In addition, according to initial information, a person arrested in Frankfurt is said to have connections to the rocker milieu.

The police are also investigating him.

The Hamburg customs had already arrested two people on September 24, against whom had been investigated since the end of 2018.

As the operator of several service companies in a gang-like structure, you are said to have contributed to social security fraud.

The failure to transfer the employer's and employee's contributions to social security resulted in damage of over 2.3 million euros.
