Do German Netflix users have to expect a price increase?
A US analyst reveals how much additional euros subscribers will likely have to pay soon.
A few weeks ago, streaming giant
Netflix raised
its prices in Austria * by one to two euros: the standard tariff there has since cost
12.99 euros
instead of 11.99 euros per month and the premium tariff is now even
17.99
euros
Euro
instead of 15.99 euros due.
Only the price of the basic tariff (7.99 euros per month) remained the same.
The sudden change also made German users sit up and take notice:
Is there a threat of an increase in this country?
So far,
Netflix has
not announced any such measures for Germany.
Wall Street analyst
Alex Giaimo
from Jefferies assumes that other countries in Europe, the Middle East and North America will not be spared.
Is Netflix raising prices in Europe?
US analyst with gloomy forecast
If Netflix actually plans to increase prices in Europe, North America and other continents, those responsible are currently not letting a word of it leak out.
US analyst
Alex Giaimo
, however,
listened
very carefully: Compared to Deadline magazine, he referred to the Netflix financial conferences in the first and second quarters of 2020, which differ slightly in terms of the wording: "During the conference for the first quarter, Netflix said, that they 'wouldn't even think about a price hike' while the language on the subject was
kept much more open
during the Q2 talks
,
”Giaimo notes.
From this he concludes that an increase in North America, Europe, the Middle East and even in Africa is
quite likely
in the short or medium term
.

Giaimo also answers the question of how much more money the subscribers might soon have to pay.
With regard to Europe, he expects an increase of between
one and two dollars
.
Converted, this corresponds to around
EUR 0.80 to EUR 1.70
.
However, he does not address whether this increase could be added to all three subscription models.
For him, it is only clear that users should expect this scenario - and
Netflix
may reveal
more details during the conference for the third quarter, which will take place in October 2020.
