11,016 new cases and 177 more deaths.

That is the main balance left by the report of the Ministry of Health this Wednesday on the state of the pandemic in Spain.

There are 1,100 more cases than on Tuesday, while the number of deaths remits moderately compared to the 203 deaths reported the previous day.

Neither the contagion nor the death data serve to appreciate an upward or downward trend.

We have been on a plateau plagued with slight ups and downs for several weeks, with new infections hovering between 12,000 and 9,000 daily and deaths counting over a hundred.

In the last three Health reports, the figure is closer to 200 than 100.

Madrid continues to be the most worrying focus of the epidemic.

The Community accumulates 44% of the new infections in all of Spain, although its population represents 14% of the total.

The 4,810 new cases reported in the region are the highest number reported during the week (since there are no reports on weekends, all weekend data is grouped on Mondays) for 12 days.

The death toll, 57, is also the highest in the past two weeks on a business day.

They are a third of the deceased in the whole country.

In total, Health reports the death of 31,791 people since the pandemic began, but this registry does not include thousands of people who died from coronavirus and whose diagnosis was not confirmed with a laboratory test.

On the other hand, the accumulated incidence per 100,000 inhabitants in the last two weeks has fallen in Madrid: it goes from 784 on Tuesday (the record in the second wave) to 735. It does not have to imply a downward trend, since it is common for this rate to fall and rise by the day.

It remains well above the national average, 284, as does the second most affected community by the pandemic, Navarra (681).

The other regions with the worst epidemiological situation are La Rioja (460), Castilla-La Mancha (422) and Castilla y León (386).

Murcia is hot on his heels (385).

The lowest rate of infections is registered in Galicia (104) and the Valencian Community (105).
