Did you like last year's Lion King's novelty in 3D technology?

Well, now Disney has confirmed that his sequel is on the way.

Leading the project is Hollywood screenwriter Barry Jenkins, best known for his films "A Cure for Melancholy" and "Moonlight."

Alongside him will work Jeff Nathanson, who wrote the script for the remake last year.

The exciting news was tweeted on Friday by Jenkins himself, who wrote "this. Yes, this" and added a reference to the news announcing that he would be the film's director.

According to the information published, the film will use the same photo-realistic method of filming, which was done in "The Lion King" from last year and in "The Jungle Book" from 2016.

No further information has yet been released on the film's release date or the identity of those dubbed in it.

As mentioned, last year Disney renewed "The Lion King", its huge hit from 1994, and it was starring Donald Glover, Beyonce, James Earl Jones (who also voiced Mopsa in the 1994 film), Chivatl Agiopor, Billy Eichner, Seth Rogen and John Oliver.

Although not all Disney fans liked the novelty and realistic technology in which the animation was filmed, the audience in the field voted with their feet in favor of the film.

Immediately upon its release it became a blockbuster with revenues of over $ 1.65 billion, which were higher than the revenues of the original film.

Beyond that, the film is ranked seventh on the list of the most lucrative films of all time, and is the most lucrative animated film of all time so far.

Despite the huge box office success, the film received much criticism for moving the animation from two dimensions to three, and some of the animators who worked on the original and old version of the film did not like the result, claiming the characters' eyes in the new format were "emotionless" and their performance was not powerful.

While the second part of "The Lion King" from 1998, "The Kingdom of Simba", focused on the love life of Simba's daughter, in the new film the Disney company plans to focus on the beginning of the characters' journey, including in Mopsa's historical story.
