Regarding the departments placed in enhanced alert zones, no major change: Paris and the inner suburbs, Gironde, Haute-Garonne, Hérault, Alpes-Maritimes, Isère, Loire, Rhône , the North, Seine-Maritime and Ille-et-Vilaine remain at the same level of alert.

The epidemic, however, is developing differently in these territories.

Thursday evening, the Minister of Health Olivier Véran noted a deterioration in the health situation in five French metropolises: Lille, Grenoble, Lyon, Saint-Etienne and Toulouse.

Marseille remains on high alert

In Paris, the situation is more critical.

Olivier Véran confirmed this Thursday that the capital and its inner suburbs have "crossed the three thresholds which may correspond to the maximum alert zone".

At this stage, however, the government did not act on Thursday to switch Paris to maximum alert.

A decision will be taken on Monday by the executive, which ensures that the thresholds were crossed 24 hours ago and wishes to assess the evolution of the epidemic in the next three days.

Conversely, and in terms of more positive news, the epidemiological data suggests a health improvement in three French cities: Bordeaux, Marseille and Nice.

Marseille, despite this tremor of improvement, remains on high alert for the moment.

There, bars and restaurants must keep their doors closed for the time being.

The minister defended himself from any differential treatment between the capital and Marseille, noting that the Marseille city had exceeded the thresholds longer than Paris when it was placed on “maximum alert”.
