(ANSA) - ROME, OCTOBER 02 - "In recent weeks there has been a 26% worsening of the health crisis, with a worrying increase in the number of infections, especially in some large European economies. Although the situation in Italy is still under control, the growing uncertainty about the timing and methods of exiting the health emergency pushes the recovery away, even in industry, because it slows down consumption and investments, while exports in the coming months risk suffering heavy repercussions from the closures that are announced in other countries ".

This was highlighted by the Confindustria Study Center which, communicating the estimates on the trend of industrial production, warns: "While waiting for an effective cure against Covid-19, families and businesses are forced to navigate by sight".

"Italian industrial production closes the third quarter of 2020 with a strong rebound, after the profound fall recorded in the previous two" notes the CsC indicating that "the recovery of activity continued in August (+ 1.5%) and, to a lesser extent, also in September (+ 0.5%) ".

"In the third quarter - the economists of viadell'Astronomia indicate - a cyclical increase of 26.4% is estimated, after the -16.9% recorded by Istat in the second (-8.8% in the first). , in the summer months the activity levels are 6.0% lower than in the same period of 2019. The cyclical change acquired in the fourth quarter is + 0.8% ".

Production, net of the different number of working days, decreased in September by 4.0% compared to the same month of 2019.

The rebound in industrial production "detected in the average of the third quarter of 2020 brings the index above the levels of the first, although - for a particular monthly trend - in September the gap compared to January is still negative (-4.7%) ".
