A truck driver died in a rear-end collision on the A2 in the Lower Saxony district of Bad Schaumburg.
According to preliminary findings, he drove his truck unrestrained into another truck standing at the end of a traffic jam on Thursday evening, a police spokesman said early Friday morning.
The man was trapped and fatally injured.
The clearance between Lauenau and Bad Nenndorf was initially still in progress.
According to the police, the A2 in the direction of Berlin will be blocked until around 6 a.m.
The other truck involved in the accident could be driven to the next rest stop.
The police could not initially say whether the driver was injured.
