(ANSA) - TEL AVIV, 04 OCT - On Thursday 8 October the Israeli government will evaluate the decisions on the continuation of the national lockdown expiring on 14 October.
Premier Benyamin Netanyahu announced this, explaining on Facebook that tomorrow's meeting of the Coronavirus Committee will only concern the current restrictions and fines imposed if the rules are not followed.
"The measures envisaged by the lockdown - he explained, saying he was cautious about the first signs of a slowdown in infections - are not against the people but against the virus".
The premier has repeatedly reiterated the need to extend the blockade of the country.
Meanwhile, the political controversy is accentuated in the self-governing coalition between the Prime Minister's Likud and Benny Gantz's Blue White, after the resignation last Friday of a minister of the centrist party in protest against Netanyahu's conduct of the fight against the virus, especially in the limitations of demonstrations. An MP from Blu Bianco Miki Haimovich said that intolerance in the party towards the government alliance with Netanyahu is growing. At issue is also the request for an extension of the emergency law requested by the premier to combat infections. (HANDLE).
