(ANSA) - NEW YORK, OCTOBER 04 - Faced with a surge in coronavirus infections in New York, Mayor Bill De Blasio announced the lockdown of nine neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens, considered an outbreak of infection.

Schools and non-essential businesses will be closed and the quarantine will also affect restaurants serving outdoors.


    "It's a difficult day," said De Blasio.

The lockdown will start on Wednesday.
