Japanese fashion designer

Kenzo Takada

died today (Sunday) at the age of 81 as a result of corona disease.

An official announcement was made by a spokeswoman for the fashion house bearing his name, according to which the founder passed away at the Nay-sur-Saint hospital in Paris.

Kenzo retired from his role as designer of the fashion house in 1999, but continued to be slightly involved and last January launched a brand of luxury items and home furniture called K3.

Kenzo was born in 1939 in Japan and after studying fashion in Tokyo moved to France.

He is considered to be the first Japanese designer to gain prominence in the Paris fashion industry, thanks to the brand he founded bearing his first name.

Kenzo began his fashion career in 1970 and six years later opened his flagship store in the Place de la Victaire in Paris.

Since then, he has managed to dress up huge stars like Beyonce, Rihanna, Kendall Jenner and the Hadid sisters.

One of the signs most associated with the Kenzo fashion house is a tiger-shaped logo.

The designer's relationship with the animal and plant worlds began as early as 1970 with the opening of his flagship store, dubbed the "Jungle Jup".

The recurring design motifs in the collections were all inspired by the worlds of flora and fauna, and in 2012, in the fall-winter collection, the first sweater was launched with the well-known tiger logo.

Since then, the tiger motif has undergone a variety of incarnations, but has maintained a constant and central presence in the fashion house's collections while holding the saying - "the tiger is part of Kenzo's DNA."

The Kenzo brand was opened to the worlds of beauty only in the late 80s with the launch of a line of perfumes.

In 1999, upon his retirement, he sold the Kenzo brand to the LVMH Group, which owns many top brands such as Dior, Givenchy and Fendi, and only after his retirement did the company enter the worlds of cosmetics and beauty.

Last week, the fashion house bearing his name participated in the Paris Fashion Week, where he presented the Spring 2021 collection on the runway. Scouts and critics.
