HMOs have in recent days been equipped with first courses of flu vaccines for the coming winter.

This week, Nurse Sahar Natur, from the Clalit Health Fund's continued treatment and follow-up unit in the Haifa and Western Galilee districts, came to the home of 116-year-old Hassan to give him the first dose of the vaccine against the disease.

Hassan was born in 1904 and will mark his 117th birthday in a few months.

He is the father of six sons and five daughters from his first wife, and a grandfather of no less than 60 grandchildren.

His current wife, who is by his side and cares for him with dedication, is only 59 years old and with her he gave birth to another son and daughter at a relatively late age.

Until about two months ago, Hassan made sure to come independently for follow-up and treatment at a general clinic at his place of residence in one of the localities in the Western Galilee.

However, due to the corona's limitations, as well as the worsening of his medical condition, he remained at home as part of a non-oncology home hospice, and is under medical examination and follow-up by Clalit staff.

Hassan's family members say that despite his advanced age and background illnesses - he is completely clear and aware of what is going on around him and until a few months ago he used to go to the clinic himself and make personal arrangements.

"There are consequences for his old age," his family members told Israel Today.

"He suffers from hearing problems and therefore has communication difficulties with him, but he is very happy to see Nurse Natur and the medical staff who came to him especially to give him the vaccine. It greatly reassured him. We all hope he continues to maintain good health and have many more good years. ".
