Ivri Lider is one of the few singers who in recent weeks has managed to perform in front of hundreds of people and feel almost like he once did, in days when a gathering was not yet considered a rude word.

Lider has performed five times at the Tel Aviv Hall of Culture, in an intimate ensemble, in performances dedicated to the memory of guitarist Jonathan Fridge, who passed away unexpectedly last May at the age of 41. After that, Lider performed twice at Amphi Wahl, in a big show with his entire band.

Then came the closure, and again it is not possible to perform in front of an audience.

Tonight (Monday) at 23:00, Lider will take the stage of the Zappa Live complex in Hayarkon Park and will perform in front of Rick Park.

The show will be broadcast live on Keshet 12 as part of "Zappa Live" broadcasts.

“The performances at Amphi Wahl were amazing, stunning, fun, with great energy,” says Lider.

"The fact that the audience was sitting in capsules did not bother us, and I think neither did he, because in the end it was the music, and this togetherness, and it was very strong. There was great hope that here we were progressing to some neat place, that there was a way to perform, that we cracked it. The performances proved themselves "As neat, as safe, people sat with masks, did not run to the stage, there was civilized and beautiful behavior. It sucks me that we are punished for something that is not ours."

According to Lider, "Closure sucks. And not just for the world of culture. I do not see the world only through my narrow prism. I care about all the people who work and live here, of everyone who finds themselves closed and without work. This management of open, close, open, "Closing gives a feeling of lack of control and lack of planning. Closing does not put the emphasis on the problematic places, and there is something very dangerous about it mentally and financially. At the same time I do not manage this crisis and I am small. I know how difficult it is to manage."

You are actually meeting with the prime minister who is managing the crisis

.

"True, and it's clear to me that it's hard work to manage such a thing and make the right decisions, but I also think that this method of total closure is very extreme, and extremism is never a good thing. It will lead us to problematic places."

Israeli society is already in problematic places.

Splitting, polarization and a great deal of internal struggles

.

"It's terribly saddening me. We're getting more extreme and aggressive, because it's harder, we see less future, it's stressful. You look ahead and ask what will happen to my future. A lot of times we look for culprits and find it in people who are not like us. Much easier to look at. Out and say someone else is to blame, because he's not me, and that's a shame. We need voices to talk about this very common place, the cliché we are all together is not a cliché, it's more true than ever. Corona has no rules. One day you are the President of the United States and today The next day you are infected with a virus.

No one is immune. "

At least you got quality time with your son

.

"A week ago Albi was a year old, and there is no doubt that the Corona gave me one gift and that is a long maternity leave. It allowed me to be with Albi in many moments that I could not be with him in a normal situation."

And what about the music

?

"We work all the time. There's starting to be some adjustment to the situation. I recently performed at some very fun and beautiful zoom events for companies. You suddenly see people at home. It's a piece to play for people when they're in their living room, there's some cool relaxation. I released the song 'Middle East' "That worked, and it was a great pleasure. There are more things on the agenda. I'm also working on a book with my mom, her songs and my photographs. And I'm working on a children's project with my sister."

You are being photographed these days for

"

Connected

".

"True, it's an exposure I'm not used to, but it's interesting and teaches me things about myself. I think it will mostly show how I live, the little thoughts that people do not know, how I am before a show, little things about the family. I'm not one of those people who talks "A lot for their story, and I'm not dying for social media, but the format of 'Connected' is more similar to a documentary, which describes processes in more depth, it feels more comfortable to me."
