(ANSA) - MEXICO CITY, OCTOBER 05 - At least six people died and thousands were forced to leave their homes due to the tropical storm Gamma, which triggered floods and landslides in southeastern Mexico during the weekend: the authority.
Two women and two children were among the victims;
their home was buried by a landslide in a mountainous area of the state of Chiapas.
Two more people died in the state of Tabasco, where the storm caused severe flooding.
About 3,600 people were evacuated from their homes, according to the Civil Protection, which said that in total nearly 600,000 people were affected, mainly by floods.
The authorities have opened 131 emergency shelters for people forced to leave their homes (ANSA).
