However, at the premiere of Top Gamers Academy (TGA) on Sunday night, October 4, they were nervous.
They were on a large television set, live and defending a format, to date, nonexistent: a
video game
talent show
.
Or, as many tweeters commented after the broadcast, "an
Operation Triumph,

."
In other words, Top Gamers is like an Operation Triumph, but with gamers.

That dozens of commentators have remembered

watching the premiere of
Top Gamers Academy
is no coincidence.
The program - also produced by Gestmusic, like OT - has many similarities with
singing
talent
, the most obvious being the idea of the academy: the 18 contestants will live together in a center where they will receive classes to improve their skills as gamers , and they can be followed live 24 hours on Twitch and YouTube.
An hour after the end of the first gala, more than 26,000 were still connected through these platforms.
The task of ElRubius, Thegrefg and Willyrex, however, may be more reminiscent of another
singing
talent
,
La Voz,
than
OT:
in the first program, each of the youtubers has selected a team of six contestants, who will captain alongside an assistant, also youtuber.
Joining ElRubius will be Mangel, Fargan will be Willyrex's squire and Ampeter will be TheGrefg's.
Jordi Cruz is in charge of presenting the program and, during the premiere, also of trying to make the three team leaders and their assistants remember the names of the contestants.
Mangel and ElRubius have choked on several occasions.
As explained by Jordi Cruz, in the first three weeks of the contest there will be no qualifying rounds: the participants will play three video games -
Fortnite,
Clash Royale
and
Gran Turismo
- and, according to the results of the different competitions, a team classification will be made.
The winning team will not undergo any changes, while the other two will substitute one or two of their participants for the substitute contestants who have not been chosen in any of the three teams in this first program.
After those three weeks, the qualifiers will begin, with three sent off per week.
The winners will not go to Eurovision, but to an international video game competition.

From your living room to the television studio
At the start of the program, both Jordi Cruz and Ana Olivares, Anouc, the director of the academy, have acknowledged being nervous about the premiere.
The heads of the teams and their assistants have joined in these words, and even ElRubius has joked about it on Twitter at the end of the broadcast:

ElRubius is precisely the one with the most television experience of the three coaches.
