Rapper Loredana admits fraud, but escapes conviction

The public prosecutor's office in Lucerne has closed the investigation into fraud against the rapper Loredana.

The authority said that the woman who had filed the complaint had agreed on reparation with the rapper.

"Loredana has acknowledged the allegations, apologized for her behavior and paid back the injured party more than the alleged amount of the crime."

The rapper was very happy that the process was over after 18 months, said a spokeswoman for Loredanas for the dpa news agency.

The management could not comment on the details.

Loredana had admitted, among other things, to have illegally pretended to be a lawyer.

A brother of the rapper had previously met a woman on an online platform and had her with stories about sick relatives to send him money.

When the woman asked for her money back, the rapper contacted the woman as a supposed lawyer and offered to help get the money back.

But she initially asked for more sums.

According to the announcement, the public prosecutor's office is assuming an amount of around 430,000 francs (almost 400,000 euros).

During the settlement negotiation, Loredana showed remorse and insight.

The money that the brother received from the woman had also been repaid.

Loredana committed the deception before she suddenly became famous in 2018 with her hit "sunglasses".

Since then she has been one of the big earners in the rap scene.
