José Eduardo Derbez revealed that he tested positive for COVID-19, a fact that caused him moments of uncertainty and anguish. How to face a diagnosis?

José Eduardo Derbez

revealed that he contracted coronavirus despite having stayed at home and following hygiene measures, a fact that caused him moments of uncertainty and anguish after his diagnosis.

The actor spoke on his YouTube channel about what he felt when he received the results of the test.

"The test comes back positive, that is, I had COVID-19. I got very sick, I was very scared," he said.

Although the recommendations for social distancing, confinement and hygiene seek to avoid a possible contagion, the need to prevent infection and the news that associate the virus with painful events, generate fear in the face of a positive diagnosis.

Fortunately, the newspaper

El Espectador

lists some recommendations that will help you reduce fear and be prepared for a medical diagnosis.

1. Maintain Realistic Expectations: Faced

with a diagnosis, your mind may drift toward denial.

However, if you react like this, you will panic, feel worse, worry the people around you, and make decisions motivated exclusively by fear.

Given this, keep in mind that, in the case of COVID-19, most cases do not develop symptoms or do so very mildly and many affected patients recover at home.

Why do some people test positive for COVID-19 several times as happened to Nahuel Guzmán?

José Eduardo believes that he contracted the virus at the airport, since a few days after returning to Mexico City, he began to manifest headaches, fever, dizziness, muscle and joint pain, sweats and a sore throat.

"Since I felt bad I started watching the news and suddenly I heard a woman who had said that her husband started with pain behind his eyes and days later he died. So, I brought that pain in my eyes, I got very sick, I cried a lot, I was distressed, I didn't know how to tell my family, I didn't know how to tell them, especially after I had been taking care of myself so much and taking precautions, "he said.

2. Stay informed:

access the necessary information to stay informed about how your disease could evolve and what are the measures that you should follow, but do not go overboard with the consumption of information and verify that they are reliable sources.

His diagnosis caused him so much fear and he was so worried that he even asked the specialist who performed the test "How do I know if I am going to get sick, if I am going to die or not?"

However, he explained that each person has different symptoms.

"I got really sick. So first I breathed, calmed down and calmed down," he admitted.

"Since I was calmer I warned my mother, my stepfather, my father, my brothers, my aunts, my whole family I was warning little by little," he added.

3. Communicate honestly: it

is very natural for you to have emotions such as fear, sadness, anxiety or anger.

Instead of keeping these feelings to yourself, communicate them to your closest ones and maintain permanent contact with them.

After his bad experience, Derbez recommended his

fans to

take care of themselves, follow all security measures and not be in contact with many people.

"It is a disease that does exist, that is here, that you do not know how it will give you. Each body is different, you do not know how your body is going to react," he warned.
