"Alex Zanardi with his handbike was traveling at 50 km per hour before the impact with the lorry which was driving at 38 km per hour".
This is what the engineer Mattia Strangi of the University of Bologna claims, technical consultant to the truck driver under investigation for very serious injuries for the accident that occurred to the former pilot and Paralympic champion on June 19 between Pienza and San Quirico d'Orcia (Siena), when Zanardi's handbike collided with the heavy vehicle.
According to what has been learned, the two speeds, both within the limits of the law allowed, would also find confirmation in the consultancy carried out on behalf of the Siena prosecutor's office by the engineer Dario Vangi, professor at the University of Florence.
Both consultations were carried out in mid-September.
"From what emerges we would go towards an absence of blame in the accident" comments Strangi according to which, from the expert reports, it would emerge as Zanardi "has lost control of his handbike in the corners and for this reason he overturned due to an oversteer and then impacted on the left front wheel of the truck ".
Furthermore, from the results of the same appraisals it would appear that the state of the road surface and the functioning of the handbike would have had no problems.
