LE FIGARO Why did you decide to invest so much in the partial activity?

Élisabeth BORNE.- The partial activity was deployed from the start of the pandemic so as not to redo the errors of 2008-2009.

At the time, the system was less attractive and many employers had to separate from their workforce, which penalized employees and handicapped companies during the takeover.

In this crisis, we made the opposite choice and massively deployed partial activity from the start.

And it paid off: we counted up to 9 million employees supported by the State at the height of the confinement, never seen.

At the end of August, this figure fell back to 1.3 million, a clear indicator of the recovery, which is positive.

Certainly, but is it up to the State to cover the wages of private workers in the event of a problem?

We are talking about a sum of more than 30 billion in 2020 ...
