The Ministers of Economy and Finance Roberto Gualtieri, of Infrastructure and Transport Paola De Micheli, of Economic Development Stefano Patuanelli and of Labor and Social Policies, Nunzia Catalfo, today signed the 'Alitalia' decree establishing the Newco for the airplane transport.
The knot of the appointments that guide the NewCo that is born from the ashes of Alitalia has been solved.
The Board of Directors of the Newco will be led by Francesco Caio as chairman and by Fabio Maria Lazzerini (in the role of CEO. This is stated in the joint note issued by Mef, Mit, Mise and the Ministry of Labor. Board members Alessandra Fratini , Angelo Piazza, Lelio Fornabaio, Frances Vyvyen Ouseley, Simonetta Giordani, Silvio Martuccelli and Cristina Girelli. The board of statutory auditors is made up of Paolo Maria Ciabattoni, Giovanni Naccarato, Marina Scandurra, Gianfranco Buschini and Serena Gatteschi
"The Newco represents the first step towards the establishment of a quality carrier capable of competing on the international market. We lay the foundations for the relaunch of Italian air transport, through the choice of top-level managers and great skills able to develop and implement a solid and sustainable industrial plan ".
This was declared by the Minister of Economy Roberto Gualtieri after the signing of the decree for Alitalia's Newco.
"The new national airline is born today, in clear discontinuity with the past and which will have to play a leading role on the European and international market. This is a major industrial operation at the service of the country, in support of the competitiveness of our companies and for the relaunch of Italian tourism ".
