Coronavirus and travel: what are the "extra" demands that each destination imposes to let Argentines enter

2020-10-09T15:14:57.272Z

Due to the rise in positive cases in our country, it seems increasingly difficult to travel immediately to places like New York or Europe. But to which places you can. The details.

Due to the large number of coronavirus cases registered by our country -824,468 positives, 8th in the world ranking and on the rise-, there are several countries that no longer consider us the perfect visitors to reactivate tourism and

restrict the entry of citizens from Argentina

.

New York made the news recently when it put us

on the list

of those who, upon arrival, must comply with a mandatory 14-day quarantine.

But everything is dynamic and the

tempo

is set by the covid-19, not the value of the plane tickets.

The central advice, then, if you plan a trip, is always to

consult the consulate of the destination you want to travel to

, which does not always have the information at first sight and, perhaps, you will have to look at their official Twitter accounts.

Less simple but more precise would be to check websites such as the

International Air Transport Association

(www.iatatravelcentre.com/world.php), which are updating the situation of the borders in the world.

There is a map where you can see

the level of restriction for each country and the specifications

.

The first thing to know is that there are no commercial flights.

They could only return between October 12 and 15.

The main requirement to be able to travel from Argentina is to get a place on one of the special flights that depart from the country.

The second thing to keep in mind is that the vast majority of countries apply restrictions or conditions, such as presenting a health certificate, medical insurance, a negative Covid test (Uruguay in the lead, even for Argentines), or not having visited certain countries in recent days.

The third: check flexibility for changes and / or returns.

Beyond the destination, to make air travel abroad from / to Argentina, you must complete the Electronic Affidavit on the Migrations website 48 hours before traveling and check in online on the airline's website.

And, if all goes well, boarding begins.

New York

The governor of the state, Andrew Cuomo, included Argentina among the countries with a "significant spread" of the coronavirus.

Therefore, it will be necessary to save 14 days before going to Times Square.

New York may impose civil penalties on those who refuse to complete the required form.

Days ago, Aerolineas Argentinas had announced the scheduling of more than 65 special flights -regional and international- for October, waiting for the Ministry of Transport to define the protocols for the restart of commercial aviation activity with the authorities of the air sector.

Among them, this Wednesday they confirmed to Clarín that the trip to New York, which was scheduled for October 29, had already been canceled.

American Airlines also canceled a flight to New York due to lack of passengers, following the announcement of the mandatory quarantine.

The "canceled" was seen this Tuesday night in the Ezeiza takeoff grid.

European Union

The European Union keeps its borders closed to Argentines, Brazilians and Americans, among other nationalities, a measure that is revised every 15 days.

You have to check in each consulate.

Yes, Argentines with European nationality and a Community passport can enter, and make stops to other countries.

The one in

Germany

, for example, clarifies that Argentines cannot enter.

That of

Spain

says that, once in the country, currently, "it is not mandatory to keep quarantine except in those specific localities and regions of Spain that have imposed this measure."

From Aerolineas Argentinas they told

Clarín

that "many reservations to Madrid are being lowered due to the outbreaks, therefore, the operation was also reduced."

The national company has scheduled two weekly frequencies to Madrid for October, departing from Buenos Aires on Mondays and Fridays.

Regarding France, the embassy says: "Currently, Argentine citizens and non-European foreigners residing in Argentina are not part of the passengers authorized to enter."

UK and Ireland

You can enter by quarantine for 14 days.

As detailed from the official website gov.uk, the passenger location form must be filled out, so that isolation is controlled, which will be carried out by travelers.

The penalty for failure to comply is up to £ 10,000.

Caribbean

The Caribbean, for the moment, is a big "Yes" for visitors to our country.

And the Dominican Republic is one of the most popular in the Caribbean for Argentines.

Punta Cana or Bayahibe, is not a destination for hostels (although there are and they are used by European backpackers).

The bond with our country is due to its spectacular all-inclusive hotels.

But first, you have to get there.

And it comes easy.

Still in a pandemic.

In addition to financing and family or couples packages, thanks to the Dominican Government's Responsible Recovery Plan for Tourism, from September 15 the dream of white sand is possible. What is needed?

Until December 31, 2020, foreign visitors (all, not just Argentines) will have a traveler assistance plan that is activated at the time of check-in at the hotel.

The coverage is only for a possible contagion of Covid-19.

Includes medical care, transfers, transfer of a relative, exemption from penalty for changes in airfare, accommodation for long stays.

This insurance will be paid 100% by the Dominican Government.

Attention: If you bend an ankle in the sand, nothing will cover you.

For this reason, the card's own insurance (something that must be consulted, it is not obvious) or that which is contracted from the outside (perhaps, this time, the cheapest scope) would continue to be important.

Regarding the sanitary measures taken with visitors entering the Dominican Republic, arriving tourists will

no longer need to present a

negative

PCR test

.

Non-invasive random tests will be carried out - between 3% and 10% of passengers and all those who present symptoms upon arrival - that use breath for diagnosis.

It is worth remembering: although Argentina has not yet reopened the airports for commercial flights, Argentine citizens and residents can travel on special flights authorized by ANAC.

Flights can be from Copa Airlines via Panama or from other airlines with authorized flights to the United States to later connect with the island.

Passengers must complete and submit a Traveler's Health Affidavit.

Through this form, passengers declare they have not felt any symptoms related to COVID-19 in the last 72 hours and provide contact information for the next 30 days.

Can it be circulated within the Dominican territory?

Yes, what still applies is the curfew (until October 17), from 9 to 5 in the morning.

Restaurants and cafes open from 6 to 20 and delivery services end at 21. Is the use of chinstraps mandatory?

Yes, its use is required in public spaces, but in the case of beaches and swimming pools, its use can be dispensed with.

A package of 11 days / 10 nights to Punta Cana and Bayahibe (Dominican Republic) costs from $ 157,750 (or 18 installments of $ 10,950)

Whether Cancun or Playa del Carmen, the favorites to rest, or Tulum, the only archaeological zone on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, Mexico “has it all” for many people eager to return or discover its sands.

And, in particular, its islands, such as Mujeres -in front of Cancun- and and Cozumel -ideal for snorkeling and diving.

Argentines can now also be among cenotes and reefs or in Chichén Itzá, the Mayan ruins of the state of Yucatán.

Both the beaches and public spaces of the Mexican Caribbean "reopened" on September 7 for tourists, when it was determined that the risk of contagion from Covid-19 had been reduced from high to medium in the state of Quintana Roo.

In fact, whoever now enters the official website of the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, will not find a single mention of the coronavirus.

You will have to

scroll

to the end of visitmexico.com to find, on the left, the access to “Help.

COVID-19 Recommendations ".

But everything can change.

In this new normal, people must keep a distance of between 2.5 and 5 meters on the beach, wear chinstraps in the bathrooms and when entering and leaving.

Mexico did not apply restrictions for its visitors.

Neither for the Argentines.

Arrivals must complete and submit the Traveler Risk Factor Identification Questionnaire.

For Cancun and Riviera Maya (Mexico), 10 days, from $ 167,100 or 18 installments of $ 11,600 per person.

Brazil

Foreigners of any nationality who meet all the immigration requirements to enter the country can enter Brazil, that includes the entry visa.

If the passengers - Argentine or not - plan to stay up to 90 days in that country, they must present before boarding their flight a proof of purchase of medical insurance valid in Brazil and that it has coverage during their entire travel period.

In case of not presenting this insurance, entry may be denied.
