After the announcement of a new extension of the quarantine, the Ministry of Health of the Nation reported this Friday

another 515 deaths and 15,099 new cases

of coronavirus.

According to official information, the incidence rate is 1,887 positives per 100,000 inhabitants.

Before knowing the report of Argentina, Colombia and Peru, countries that are among the ten most affected by the pandemic, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced a

new daily record of infections in the world

, with 350,000 infections.

That number includes more than 109,000 confirmed cases in Europe alone, which is facing a "second wave."

At a press conference, the emergency director of the UN health agency, doctor Michael Ryan, acknowledged that even as COVID-19 continues to spread in the world,

"there are no new answers."

He said that while the agency wants countries to avoid the strict lockdowns that have devastated their economies, governments must ensure that the most vulnerable people are protected and that various measures are taken.

"Most of the people in the world are still susceptible to this disease," Ryan warned.

He added that nations

should focus not only on restrictive measures

, but on strengthening their surveillance, testing, contact tracing systems and ensuring that populations are engaged in efforts to contain the disease.

At the national level, the Secretary of Access to Health,

Carla Vizzotti

, gave details of the impact of COVID-19 on children and adolescents in Argentina.

As specified in the morning report this Friday, the disease

reached 56,064 children under 18 years of age

(7% of the general total of positives), with an incidence rate of 493.5 per 100,000 inhabitants of that age range, in which produced 52 deaths.

Regarding the ages of "occurrence", in children under 3 years there were 13,697 cases;

in children under 5, 11,857;

between 10 and 14 years, more than 15 thousand;

between 15 and 19 years is 31,160.

The median age in this population is 13 years and the most frequent symptoms are fever, cough, sore throat, headache, and muscle pain.

Vizzotti pointed out that there is the

particular condition of infected without fever

, but that they register the other symptoms to which diarrhea is added.

Only 0.4 of the minors with a confirmed diagnosis required intensive therapy, that is, 204 cases, and of these, 72% required mechanical ventilation.

Of the 52 deceased cases, the majority had risk factors.
