Covid: over 5,000 new infected, 28 victims in 24 hours

Coronavirus infections continue to grow in Italy. In the last 24 hours the positives have increased by 5,372 (yesterday they were 4,458), with 28 deaths (yesterday 22). This is learned from the data of the Ministry of Health. The swabs were 129,471, a new record. (HANDLE)


(ANSA) - ROME, OCTOBER 09 - Coronavirus infections continue to grow in Italy.

In the last 24 hours the positives have increased by 5,372 (yesterday they were 4,458), with 28 deaths (yesterday22).

This is learned from the data of the Ministry of Health.

Itamponi were 129,471, a new record.

The total cases are now 343,770, the victims 36,111.

The new daily infections identified in Lombardy are 983, with a leap that leads the region to overtake Campania which registers 769. InVeneto there are 595 positives in the last 24 hours, 483 in Tuscany.


   Piedmont with 401 and Lazio with 387 are among the regions with the most positive ones identified in the last 24 hours. Emilia Romagnane has 276, Puglia 249, Sicily 233. Smaller regions recorded significant increases in new infected, such as Umbria (+ 151), Friuli Venezia Giulia (+146) and Abruzzo (+103).

Coronavirus ICU patients have increased by another 29 units in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 387. The hospitalized in ordinary wards have increased by 161 units, reaching 4,086.

The currently positive deposits have broken through the threshold of 70,000: they are now 70,110, with an increase of 4,158 in one day, while those healed in addition are only 1,186 for a total of 237,549.

The positives in home isolation are also increasing by almost 4 thousand, now 65,637.
