Stiftung Warentest has tested 115 toothpastes, including pastes that are supposed to make teeth lighter. Is your toothpaste one of the test winners or losers?

Stiftung Warentest has tested 115 toothpastes, including pastes that are supposed to make teeth lighter.

Is your toothpaste one of the test winners or losers?

  • Brushing your teeth should be part of the bathroom routine in the morning and evening.

Toothbrush, floss, and toothpaste all help keep the oral cavity healthy.

  • But when it comes to toothpaste, there are huge differences in effectiveness *.

  • The Stiftung Warentest as a state-sponsored consumer organization has been testing toothpastes since 2013, and the pastes tested now add up to 115 products.

If the recipes have changed, the foundation re-tests or removes the products from its database.

Do you also regularly stand in front of the toothpaste shelf in the drugstore and are downright overwhelmed?

You are not alone in this: the manufacturers are constantly outdoing each other with new products that

promise whiter teeth, healthy gums, gentle cleaning for sensitive teeth or natural care without artificial additives

.

In the toothpaste test by Stiftung Warentest, experts not only checked the ingredients: the tooth enamel abrasion, the effect of whiteners on discoloration and the prevention of caries through fluoride were also included in the evaluation.

Best toothpaste: The toothpaste test winner at Stiftung Warentest

unreservedly recommended

by

Stiftung Warentest

:

  • All-round protection toothpaste with fluoride from Logodent - quality rating "Very good" (1.4)

  • Polar Punch from Dental Delight - Quality rating "Very good" (1.2)

  • Eurodont herbal 3-fold preventive care from Aldi Süd - quality rating "Very good" (1.3)

  • 3D White Luxe Glamorous White from Blend-a-med - Quality rating "Very good" (1.1)

These toothpastes are rated “poor” - a product costs a proud eleven euros

Just because something costs a lot doesn't always have to be meaningful and effective.

This is also the case with the “toothpaste with three king gifts” from the Droste-Laux brand.

At eleven euros per tube (average retail price), it is one of the most expensive toothpastes on the market - and cannot convince in the test.

Although it received the grade 2.1 in the category “Removal of discolouration”, the paste hardly protects against tooth decay,

which is why the overall rating of 5.0 is poor

.

And the following products could not convince Stiftung Warentest either:

  • Mint toothpaste forte by Dr.

Hauschka - Quality rating "Poor" (5.0)

  • Toothpaste with black cumin from Eco Cosmetics - quality rating "Poor" (5.0)

  • Ayurvedic toothpaste from Himalaya - quality rating "Poor" (5.0)

Details on the test results and more reviews can be found on the website of Stiftung Warentest.
