Romeo Santos,
will be honored with the Billboard Top Latin Album of the Decade award for his successful record production Fórmula: Vol. 2, Telemundo and Billboard announced today.
Santos will attend the recognition of the Billboard Latin Music Awards gala, the longest-running and most prestigious awards in the Latin music industry that will air LIVE on Wednesday, October 21 on Telemundo, from the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida beginning with “The Billboard Awards Carpet” at 7 pm/6c and followed by the awards ceremony at 8 pm/7c.
Santos, who is a finalist for six awards this year, including Artist of the Year, and Streaming Song of the Year, made his album Formula: Vol. 2, packed with great collaborations, the No. 1 album on the Top Latin Albums chart. from the end of the decade of Billboard.
The album, which featured collaborations from figures like
Drake, Kevin Hart, Nicki Mina
j, and
Carlos Santana,
earned Santos his third No. 1 on the Top Latin Albums chart, topping the chart for 11 weeks from March 15, 2014.
Formula: Vol. 2 achieved the album record for the longest weeks on the Top Latin Albums chart with a total of 288 and counting.
It also holds the record for the album with the most weeks in the top 10, with a total of 168. On the Billboard 200 chart, the album earned Santos his highest debut (No. 5) on March 15, 2014.
The former leader of the group Aventura has achieved great recognition thanks to the high sales of his albums Fórmula: Vol. 1 (2012), Fórmula: Vol. 2 (2014) and Golden (2017).
Likewise, the composer has also been honored for his greatest hits, such as "Indecent Proposal", "The Loser", "Obsession" and "Teach me to forget", among others.
Santos, who just turned 39 years old, joined his countryman Alex Bueno in his most recent project to create “Nuestro amor”, his most anticipated musical release that premiered on his birthday in July.
The 2020 Billboard Latin Music Awards coincide with Billboard's Latin Music Week, a three-day virtual experience dedicated to Latin music, culture and entertainment.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the event will take place October 20-23 and will feature intimate conversations with artists, panels with industry personalities, exclusive performances and more.
