"I knew I was going to see you," shouts a woman from a crane, and many other voices join in, also shouting at her friend.
The recipient of the greetings is Gabriela, a woman who has been
fighting cancer
for a long time
and whom they cannot
see due to the restrictions imposed by the coronavirus.
The scene, which surprised those who were circulating on Crámer Street in the Colegiales neighborhood of Buenos Aires, was conceived by Gabriela's friends.
They thought of asking a neighbor to let them go up and say hello from a balcony, but they were going to be far away, and that's how
the idea of renting a crane came up
.
There were 12 women who, with posters and excited, got on the forklift and began to yell at their friend.
They reached the terrace of the Fleming Institute and screamed
even louder, until Gabriela heard them and leaned out the window.
They have known each other for more than 11 years, since they all started running in a running group in La Plata.
Gabriela and her friends, during a TV interview.
"The idea came from the need to visit her, the isolation was becoming very long. We shared and spent a lot of time together, we belong to a running group and we miss her a lot," said Patricia, one of those who devised the plan to surprise Gabriela, in an interview with
Telefé
.
And he continued: "I imagine it must be difficult for her not to see each other and we look for a way."
Another of her friends told the La Plata newspaper
El Día
that "she got sick and is admitted to the Fleming, and with the anguish and isolation it is difficult to sustain the situation."
When recounting the details of the emotional plan, her friends specified that all they asked her was to be attentive and look out the window.
"We hoped she had a good day and luckily it turned out very well," said another of her friends.
"Being this age and having a group of friends like that is a blessing," said Gabriela, who participated virtually in the television interview.
And she closed, excited: "
I'm going to get out of here
soon
and I'm going to run again
."
