The Italian Medicines Agency (Aifa), according to what is learned, has not granted regulatory authorization to the batch of 100 thousand flu vaccines provided by the Chinese company Life On. The lot is inherent to the last tender carried out in Lombardy for a total of 500 thousand vaccines.
Meanwhile, the purchasing center of the Lombardy Region Aria makes it known in a note that "no vaccine will be acquired, and therefore distributed, that has not obtained the authorizations required by law and the consequent scrupulous checks".
The statement concerns press reports relating to the alleged failure to register with AIFA by the Chinese company which is expected to supply 100,000 doses of the flu vaccine.
"With regard to the news regarding the award of a supply of 100 thousand flu vaccines for the Lombardy Region, in addition to those already purchased - the note continues - it is emphasized that Aria has determined the assignment, however, subordinating their legal effectiveness to following the AIC (Authorization for placing on the market) for Italy by AIFA, the Italian Medicines Agency. Until that moment there will be no purchase or any form of payment by the regional institution ".
"All this does not affect the flu vaccination campaign as the doses already acquired by the Lombardy Region over the months amount to 2.9 million units", concludes the note.
