The restrictions include the closure of many establishments open to the public, such as cafes and exhibition halls.

New restrictions come into force this Saturday in Lille, Lyon, Grenoble and Saint-Etienne, where the incidence rate of the Covid-19 epidemic has exceeded the alert threshold of 250 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants and more 30% of resuscitation beds are occupied by Covid patients.

"A passage in the zone of maximum alert was decided by the president", announced Thursday the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran.

The restrictions include the closure of many establishments open to the public.

Bars closed for 15 days

The bars are closed for a minimum of 15 days.

This concerns, in addition to cafes, tea rooms, shisha bars, or any other drink outlet, such as barges.

For each of the four agglomerations, the measures apply throughout the metropolis to avoid “carry-over effects” on other municipalities, as the prefect of the Rhône, quoted by Le Progrès, underlined.

Sanitary protocol in restaurants

Restaurants must observe a reinforced protocol, which notably involves the establishment of a “reminder book”.

There is no possibility of eating more than six and the bill must be paid at the table.

Kitchen staff should wear a mask, such as dining room staff or customers when traveling or waiting for the first course.

Managers must display their maximum capacity outside the restaurant.

In the case of Lille, BFMTV specifies that establishments must remain closed between 12:30 a.m. and 6 a.m.

Fairs and exhibitions cannot be held.

Refreshments in places open to the public must also be closed.

Shopping centers and department stores must set up a gauge corresponding to 4m² per customer, excluding reception staff.
