A suspected race between three cars led to a serious accident (symbol image)

According to the police, an illegal race with three vehicles on the Autobahn 66 killed an uninvolved person.
One of the three cars hit the middle plank near Hofheim am Taunus in Hesse and then collided with a car not participating in the race, a police spokesman said on Saturday evening.
Both cars were burned out.
The person in the uninvolved car died but has not yet been identified.
The 29-year-old driver who hit the guardrail with his car came to a clinic.
In the course of the accident, three other uninvolved cars were damaged.
According to the spokesman, a 55 and 58 year old driver came to a clinic.
An 18-year-old driver is not receiving medical treatment.
The second of the three drivers in the illegal race has since turned himself in to the police.
The third is being searched.
The Autobahn 66 was completely closed for several hours on Saturday afternoon in the direction of Frankfurt.
The investigation continues.
