The long-awaited expertise on the three iPhone phones seized in the house in the country Martindale where Jorge Neuss killed his wife, Silvia Saravia, began as expected: without the passwords to the devices,

the specialists could not unlock them,

so the valuable information that they surely hold remains a mystery.

Barring a stroke of luck, such as a very common combination such as a birthday or the numbering of an address, iPhones represent a challenge in criminal cases since they

have more security measures than the rest.

The Neuss case is no exception.

This Friday - while the information was still resounding that the night before the crime Saravia had taken refuge in the house of her daughter (also a neighbor of Martindale) - the prosecutor Maria José Basiglio undertook the task of analyzing the electronic devices kidnapped from the marriage.

"The experts began with the three iPhones and the memory of a photo camera that could be accessed but

contained old photos of the family

, without any value for the cause. Two computers and a tablet still remain to be reviewed since today it was not done in time ", sources of the case confided to Clarin.

After a first attempt with the most obvious combination of numbers (birthday of the couple and their children) the cell phones were left in custody of the San Isidro gender violence prosecutor's office.

"In principle, we will continue to try combinations of numbers to see if there is luck and the password is discovered. The children have already indicated that

they do not know the access codes,

" the sources explained.

If this artisanal method does not work, there is always the resource of sending the devices to the international company Cellebrite that uses the program called

Universal Forensic Extraction Device

and that has already worked on other causes that are processed in Argentina.

If this path is finally taken, first it will be necessary to complete the bureaucratic procedures since Cellebrite charges about

$ 5,000 for each device to be unlocked.

Although there are other key testimonies to take (among them that of Saravia's sister and her friends), telephones may be the best route to solve the main mystery of the case.

This is what was the reason for discussion that made the night before the crime Saravia ask her daughter something she had never done before: to spend the night at her house, separated from her husband.
