VIDEO. Austria: couriers carry out Covid-19 screening tests at home

Since the beginning of October, there are around a hundred of them traveling around Vienna. Like Marcus Haunold, they are bicycle couriers for the Veloce company and they no longer distribute packages but Covid-19 tests across the Austrian capital. All have received training and, like Marcus Hanauld, go door to door to help residents carry out 'gargle' tests: "We are faster than cars, we can squeeze through traffic and we don't have to look for parking spaces, ”explains the 25-year-old. With this system, the municipality wants to increase the number of screenings within the capital. Like many other countries in Europe, Austria is struggling to stem the resurgence of the pandemic, with a record number of new cases, more than a thousand every day. By the end of the month, the city wants to double the number of its bicycle delivery men, and strengthen its entire system to fight the Covid-19 disease, which has claimed the lives of 872 people, according to the latest statistics official.
