Burglars exploit the fear of corona with a nasty scam
In the Spessartring in Offenbach, on Tuesday (October 13th) at 6.30 p.m., burglars attempted a new break-in, as the police headquarters in Southeast Hesse described in a press release: In order to gain undisturbed access to the apartment of a 52-year-old, they stopped him beforehand falsified letter from the Federal Ministry of Health warning him that he
may have had contact with a person who tested positive
.
For further examinations, he should take the whole family to a Frankfurt clinic at a certain time.
On the way to the hospital, the 52-year-old had doubts about the story, so he turned back and arrived home a little later.
In the meantime it had already been broken into: Among other things,
jewelery and bags worth 5,500 euros
had been snatched by thieves.
However, according to the police report, they did not expect the resident to return so early that they had to flee "head over heels".
The officers are currently looking for two men who have disappeared from the scene of the crime in a black SUV - presumably a BMW X3 with Wiesbaden license plates - and who have probably waited in front of the apartment building from 6 p.m. until the family left it.
