Cgia, we risk burning 160 billion of wealth

- Due to the negative effects of Covid we risk 'burning' 160 billion of GDP: this is supported by the Cgia of Mestre, according to which in the rosiest forecast Italian GDP this year should fall , compared to 2019, by around 10%.

To give an idea of the size of the contraction, it is as if Veneto had been in lockdown for the whole year.

"The gravity of the situation emerges even more clearly if we compare the current economic situation with what happened in 2009, annus horribilis of the post-war Italian economy - underlines Paolo Zabeo, coordinator of the Studies Office of the Artisans of Mestre -. , GDP fell by 5.5% and the unemployment rate, in the space of 2 years, went from 6 to 12%. This year, however, if things go well, GDP will decrease by 10% ".

Sangalli, a new lockdown must be avoided

- "This new health emergency, with curfews and early closures of public establishments, increases uncertainty and puts tens of thousands of businesses at risk".

The alarm was raised by the president of Confcommercio, Carlo Sangalli.

"Effective anti-Covid measures are a priority and with an economy already on its knees, a second lockdown must absolutely be avoided - explains Sangalli in a note - The Government must support companies in difficulty with greater and faster compensation, otherwise at the end of the year we will risk serious, very serious consequences for employment ".

Confcommercio: dark future for tourism and catering

- Dark days are looming for catering, leisure and tourism due to the resurgence of Covid-19 infections.

This is what emerges from the economic report prepared by Confcommercio in which it is expected that the "fourth quarter will open under the banner of renewed and profound uncertainty fueled by the dynamics of infections" with the result that the "conviviality" and "they will not be affected by the recovery of GDP".

For the month of October Confcommercio estimates an increase of 0.9% in the short term dep product which translates into a decrease on an annual basis of 5.1%.

Work in smoke for 219,000 self-employed in a year

- Between the second quarter of 2019 and that of this year, out of 841,000 jobs lost, 219,000 were those of the self-employed, a sector "which went from 5.4 to 5.1 million employed (-4.1%) ".

For 79% of professionals, in the dark months of the Covid emergency (April and May), revenues fell, but for 35.8% the decline was "more than 50%".
