2 studies, 2 different results: the corona drug that confuses the world

The corona has been with us for almost a year now, and although researchers already know quite a bit about the disease that shocked the world, there is still much hidden over the visible.

And to add confusion, the various studies on COVID-19 disease, how to say, do not always show the same results.

Here is one example

We admit that even us, the studies already manage to confuse a little.

We were only recently told that Remedisiver - the antiviral drug that US President Donald Trump only recently treated after being infected with corona, was found to be effective, and now, the World Health Organization announces that the drug has little to no effect on Corona patients' chances of recovery.

So who to believe?

Remedysbury became known to the public when it was given to President Trump while he was at the Walter Reed Military Medical Center and given COVID-19 treatment.

The antiviral drug was developed by American drugmaker Gilead Sciences, hoping it would treat viruses like hepatitis, SARS and Ebola.

It has never been approved by the FDA.

But as early as May 2020, the drug was approved for emergency use by the FDA, and it was approved for the treatment of children and adults hospitalized with COVID-19.

The drug was then approved only for critically ill patients, and only temporarily.

In a recent study published in the New England Journal of Medicine, researchers from the National Center for Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) published their final conclusions about a study whose initial results were published last May. Who received treatment with Ramadisibir for 10 days during their hospitalization due to Covid-19. The

results showed that the patients who received Ramdisbir recovered within 10 to 11 days, while those who received the placebo were sick for about 15 days. While some can be quite severe, these include changes in kidney function, anemia, respiratory failure and increased blood sugar levels.

Shortens the duration of the disease, but does not really save lives.

The World Health Organization study, known as the SOLIDARITY Experiment, had a different purpose.

The researchers examined mortality rates in patients with COVID-19 who received Remedysvir.

The study authors wanted to know if more people would survive if they were treated at Remedysvir.

The researchers recruited over 11,000 patients who received remdisvir, hydroxychloroquine, lupinebir, interferon and lupinebir, or nothing.

Hydroxychloroquine, for example, is used to treat or prevent malaria, and lupine beer is an antiviral drug used to treat HIV.

The results showed that there were no differences in death rates among the patient groups.

Experiments with hydroxychloroquine and lupine have been discontinued early as there has been no evidence that they are beneficial.

And if you look at the 2,743 of the patients who were treated with Remedy 11 percent of them died - about the same number as those who received placebo - 11.2 percent.

So what is the simple person supposed to do with this information?

The truth is that the numbers show that the studies are not so different - both actually showed that treatment with Remedicibir showed no difference in the number of deaths as a result of COVID-19.

But the first study showed that the drug shortened the course of the disease.

Experts say the results are not surprising, as antiviral drugs may not play a major role in the second or third week of infection, as the virus decreases over time, so the timing of use has a decisive effect on the results.
