(ANSA) - ROME, OCTOBER 18 - Mea culpa of Dutch Prime Minister MarkRutte after the storm that broke out against the Dutch sovereigns who left for a holiday in Greece despite the latest anti-Covid measures implemented by the government which advised against, among other things, unnecessary travel.
The prime minister, the BBC reports, admitted that he was aware of King Willem-Alexander's and Queen Maxima's plans and hadn't intervened.
"I was wrong", said Rutte who just in these days introduced a partial lockdown in the country against a new surge in coronavirus cases.
In a letter to parliament, the premier acknowledged that he "realized too late that" the royal holiday "did not reconcile with the new" anti-Covid "measures.
The Dutch royals flew to Greece aboard a government plane but due to the controversy they interrupted the holiday and returned to Holland last night on a KLM scheduled flight.
