But the Iraqis did not want to pull on the shisha because of the spread of the corona virus.

"The restaurants have reopened, the cafes too, but we were still worried, especially about the shisha. Because you inhale and it fills your lungs - that's why it's pretty dangerous."

Understandable - after all, nobody wants to drag the coronavirus of a possibly infected guest directly into their own lungs.

But Adnan had an idea how to get his business up and running again.

"Because many people were afraid to smoke shisha, I came up with a disinfection method. I filmed how I do it and posted it on social networks. People liked my idea and more came back Customers who also wanted to smoke a shisha. "

Adnan works with heat - and for safety's sake also with a strong disinfectant.

"I use this steam cleaner to disinfect the hookah. It heats the water to more than the boiling point and hot steam comes out. I also use hydrogen peroxide to disinfect the hookah really well."

In any case, Adnan's guests are convinced - and are steaming again.

Even if the concern about the corona virus remains.

"If there were viable economic alternatives, I would say that I am against reopening cafes and restaurants. But economically - we can't stand shutdown much longer. Part of me is happy for people, but one other part is unhappy for health reasons. People do not adhere 100 percent to the safety measures. "

More than 10,000 people have died in Iraq from or with a corona infection since the pandemic began.

The number of infected people is also increasing again in Iraq, with around 5,000 new cases being registered every day.
