2020-10-18T17:04:01.219Z

Initiated by TF1, France Télévisions and M6, this new online video platform offered from € 6.99 per month will be launched this

Fundamentals and some nice pirouettes: Salto finally invites itself into the arena of online video platforms.

Unlike the giants Netflix, Amazon Prime Video or Disney +, the latest, the result of a collaboration between TF1, France Télévisions and M6, is intended only for a French audience.

It is based on two axes: a catalog of series, films and documentaries - including unpublished ones - first, then an extension of classic channels by offering their programs in preview or with much longer replays and making them accessible. previous seasons so that everyone can catch up or watch their favorite shows.

Three subscriptions are offered: "Solo" for 6.99 euros per month and a single screen, "Duo" for 9.99 euros and simultaneous access to two screens, or "Tribu" for 12.99 euros and four screens.

Note that, for its launch, Salto will be available on computers, smartphones, tablets and connected TVs.

But not yet directly on the boxes.

So what does it look like?

At first glance, the interface is not revolutionary with programs that appear large at the top of the page and horizontal menus below to guide the subscriber.

The first categories are the simplest: choice between series and fictions, documentaries, cinema, youth and family, reality TV, etc.

At least we are not disoriented.

Each of these sections then reveals other sorting criteria.

The cinema thus presents various collections by actor or director: Catherine Deneuve, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Sofia Coppola, Coluche…

"Love is in the meadow" in preview

Salto then presents the top of the most watched programs on the platform as well as the new products and previews.

Each week, for example, you can discover the new episode of "Love is in the meadow" before its broadcast on Monday evening on M6 or watch your daily soap operas two episodes ahead of the television programming.

Enough to seduce traditional TV addicts.

Even below, these are the genres that are put forward: laughter, emotion, shivers, escape ... It is only after that we finally discover the suggestions presented in a more original way.

Like these classifications according to character profiles: Curious, Big mouths, Crazy lovers… Thus, if you click on Bon vivant, you will have access to the series "Chefs", to the entertainment "the Best pastry chef" or to the documentary series "A Pleine Dents ”with Gérard Depardieu.

A selection by… astrological sign

The more you scroll down the screen, the more menus are multiplied (Women of characters with "Bitch princess of hearts", "Candice Renoir" or "Marie Antoinette", The accents which sing with "Captain Marleau", "More Belle la Vie ”or the Québécoise“ That's how I love you ”…) seeks to seduce all the time.

But the most unexpected is the selection by… astrological sign.

For example: "the scorpion is rebellious, passionate and fierce".

Which gives respectively these three suggestions: the film "The Bling Ring", the series "Balthazar" and the film "American Psycho".

A really gimmicky but fun menu.

Netflix, Disney +, MyCanal… platforms on the test bench

In the end, the best idea of Salto lies in the selections of celebrities presenting their favorites.

The actor Fred Testot recommends “Camera Café” or “Desperate Housewives”, wants to discover the series “They were ten” or “El Embarcadero” and admits a guilty pleasure: “The Young and the Restless”!

The singer Carla advises on her side "Clem", animal documentaries or "Dirty Dancing".

It simply lacks a small presentation sheet of these personalities who will not necessarily speak to all.

The viewing experience is very smooth.

As soon as you watch a program, it is added to the user's profile, allowing you to resume interrupted playback.

In the case of series or episodes, the shutters are linked automatically.

In this period when the curfew at 9 p.m. concerns nearly a third of French people, the first free month offered by Salto will allow everyone to familiarize themselves with the platform and to see if they find what they are looking for.
