Faced with the coronavirus, the Fiac is reinventing itself in the galleries

2020-10-21T04:34:02.522Z

While the capital is forced to give up its major fairs, gallery owners are multiplying initiatives so that Parisians find a little comfort and lightness through art.

Marais Art Week: the rich history of galleries

In a spirit of solidarity, more than 50 galleries in the Marais invite 50 foreign galleries from 11 different countries to their walls.

Among the initiators of this unprecedented collaborative project, the very active Magda Danysz, Éric Dereumaux from the RX gallery, Bernard Utudjian from Polaris and Anne Barrault, who allow collectors and neophytes to discover recent works by artists on the contemporary scene.

We go to Magda Danysz (78, rue Amelot 11e) see Monumentum de Vhils.

The Portuguese artist always surprises with his laser-engraved sculptures of superimposed images.

At RX (16, rue des Quatre-fils, 3e), Jean-François Fourtou's Nanitos invade space, thus inventing a fantastic, strange and enchanted universe, close to childhood.

At Suzanne Tarasieve (7, rue Pastourelle, 3 rd), Kriki, neopunk artist, portrays a world of fast-culture to eat on the go.

Finally, Nathalie Obadia (3, rue du Cloître Saint-Merri, 4th) invites her colleague from Brussels Rodolphe Janssen to present the Romanian twin brothers Gert and Uwe Tobias and their expressive and colorful painting.

Until Sunday October 25 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., late-night Thursday October 22 until 8 p.m.

Application

Outsider Art Fair: brut art in Drouot

The brut art fair is limited to showing around sixty works at the Hôtel Drouot on the Sexual Personae theme, around the female figure.

The other part of the fair takes place virtually on the site.

From October 21 to 30 at

the Hôtel Drouot

, 9, rue Drouot (9th).

Asia Now

Even if the Fiac threw in the towel, Asia Now, the fair dedicated to Asian art is resisting.

No question of giving it up for its creator, Alexandra Fain, the battler who, because of this cancellation has recovered some tenors (Perrotin, Templon, Almine Rech, Continua & Marella Rossi, Obadia, les Vallois, Laffanour for the design), too happy to have visibility in these times of pandemic.

This 6th edition (30 participants) will never have had such a spotlight with top-of-the-range French galleries replacing those in China, Korea or Japan deprived of travel.

This year, it's time for India with outside the walls, in the library space of the Guimet Museum, an installation by Remen Chopra W. Van Der Vaart commissioned by the Gujral Foundation.

Tribute also to the Chinese Yunyao Zhang (who has never been able to return to his country with Covid-19!) Under the direction of curator Hervé Mikaeloff, in parallel with Vanessa Guo's new gallery in the Marais.

Asia Now.

October 21 to 24 (1 p.m. to 8 p.m., until 7 p.m. on the 24th), 9, avenue Hoche (8th).

Gallerists

Also by its smaller size, Galeristes founded by Stéphane Corréard, confirms its holding at the Carreau du Temple, with its 40 exhibiting galleries including 12 new ones, and 15 solo shows forming a new anthology of French art.

Friendly spirit, in an open-plan setting with metal work site shelves designed by architect Dominique Perrault, for a journey where merchants have made very personal choices reflecting their personalities.

A show for true collectors.

From 23 to 25 October, at the

Carreau du Temple

(from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.).

Private choice

Nadia Candet exhibits her ideal collection of works of art and contemporary design (without forgetting artists' jewelry), in a Parisian apartment.

It is as if we saw them at home, hence the temptations, with this year a tribute to the compositions of Marlène Mocquet or Pauline Bazignan.

And the expert committee includes important figures: from Emma Lavigne, president of the Palais de Tokyo, to Marella Rossi, art advisor, to Diane Thalheimer-Krief, Olfactory collector profiler.

Private choice.

Until October 25, 7, avenue Franklin Roosevelt (8th).

“Wanted!

»At the Grand Palais

To bring back a smile to contemporary art lovers deprived of festivities with the pandemic, gallery owner Emmanuel Perrotin, invites all those who sign up for an incredible treasure hunt in the empty nave of the Grand Palais.

This initiative in partnership with the Rmn will allow 6,000 people spread over two days to try their luck at acquiring 20 works of art signed by 20 artists from the gallery.

50 minutes of crazy races that promise a hell of a show that only this king of the happening can offer ...
