Sweet little rolls (Photo: Liat Naomi Shirit)
Traditional and trushka rolls are open Eastern European rolls, stuffed with sweetened cheese.
Here they got a slightly wilder version and a pairing of seasonal plum jam (but they will work with any other jam you want) with streusel crumbs.
It is true that the bun requires several steps, but, the filling is quick, the jam can come from a purchased jar and the result justifies any effort.
So put water in the coffee because we arranged you with dessert.

Preparation
How to make cheese rolls with jam and streusel?
1
Prepare the dough: In
a small bowl, mix the hot milk, dry yeast and sugar.
Give the yeast five minutes to ferment.
Add the egg and oil and stir everything well.
2 In the mixer bowl, mix the flour with the salt.
Add the liquids and start mixing the ingredients on low speed for a minute.
Increase the speed and continue to knead for 10 minutes, until a soft, crystallized dough is formed.
3 Transfer the ball of dough to a greased bowl.
Rotate the dough in a bowl so that all sides are greased.
Cover with plastic wrap and cling to the bowl and let the dough rise for an hour or until it doubles in volume.
4 Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
Line two baking pans with parchment paper, and grease them.
Set aside.
5 Take the dough out of the bowl and divide it into 12 equal-sized balls.
Each pill will weigh around 55-60 grams.
Drizzle on a lightly floured surface into a tight, round ball and place the ball in the baking pan.
Repeat the process, keeping a ball-to-ball distance (6 balls in each pattern).
Cover the mold with cling film loosely, and let them rise for at least half an hour.
6 Prepare the filling: In a small bowl, place the cream cheese with the sugar, mix well and set aside.
7
Prepare the streusel: In
another small bowl, place the flour with the sugar and butter.
Stir with a fork until butter crumbs form.
8
Assemble the rolls:
Dip one bottom into a small jar or cup, centering the ball to form a deep hollow.
Put a tablespoon of cream cheese in a bowl.
Using the back of the spoon, make a smaller hollow inside the cheese and fill it with a tablespoon of jam.
Using a brush, rub the edges of the bun with beaten egg and sprinkle the streusel crumbs over the bun.
10 Put the rolls in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until the bun turns golden.
