What a surprise!

More than forty-three years after its recording, nearly thirty-five after its disappearance, here is an unpublished song by Daniel Balavoine.

"I had become a man" had been engraved in February 1977 at the Parisian studio Hoche during the sessions of the singer's second album, "The adventures of Simon and Gunther", a concept album about the story of two brothers and two separated countries. by the Berlin Wall, which will bring him his first radio success, "Lady Marlene", and which will lead to him being contacted by Michel Berger to join the troupe of the rock opera "Starmania".

“I had become a man” is unveiled this Friday in its simplest device, just its brass voice and an acoustic guitar, joined by choirs on the chorus, 2 minutes and 31 seconds.

A text denouncing ordinary violence and absurd virility through the story told in the first person of a man who will hit and kill a stranger to impress a woman.

A text unrelated to "The Adventures of Simon and Gunther".

A song removed from the album and since forgotten, including by the one who produced the record, the historic sound engineer of Balavoine, Andy Scott.

"It's one of the miracles of this profession," enthuses Bruno Haye, artistic director of the Daniel Balavoine catalog within the Panthéon d'Universal label.

To prepare this new complete, with the singer's children and Andy Scott, we took over the multitrack tapes of his records, that is to say the recording of all the instruments.

This is quite rare because there are only two tape recorders in France that can play these tapes.

And during confinement, I discovered this hidden song.

I didn't know her, I asked Andy Scott… He hadn't mixed it at the time and had completely forgotten about it.

New integral

This title will be the great unpublished of the new complete which will appear on December 4, the richest of all, the result of two years of meticulous research and remastering.

In two boxes, 16 CDs or 9 vinyls.

But it won't be the only one.

The complete CD will bring together in addition to the eight original albums, the two live and all the scattered singles, rare tracks from Starmania and five unreleased tracks, including a track in Spanish which appeared on a promotional 45 for Mexico and which is almost not found.

Fans will also find the soundtrack that Daniel Balavoine composed for “So… Happy?

», A 1980 film by Claude Barrois (never released on CD), and a concert at the Palais des Sports in Paris in June 1982 which was sleeping in Andy Scott's archives.

We can't wait to wake up!
